James Finn, known professionally as Jim Finn, is the founder of EMFnYc.com, a subsidiary of ELEXANA LLC. He is a Certified Building Biology Institute Professional Electromagnetic Radiation Specialist, Principal EMI Engineering Consultant at Elexana LLC, and a member of the IEEE and IEEE EMC Society. He has tested more than 2,000 buildings and properties and has provided consulting services for municipalities, engineering firms, and government agencies across the United States.
EMFnYc provides independent residential EMF and EMI testing and consulting for homeowners seeking clear, technically grounded guidance. Our work focuses on identifying significant sources of electromagnetic and electrical interference, evaluating home conditions, and recommending practical, cost-effective solutions tailored to the property.
Unlike many consultants in this field, we do not sell EMF products or accept referral commissions. Our recommendations are based on the home's actual needs, not on product sales. In many cases, the most effective improvements come from identifying wiring errors, grounding issues, equipment placement concerns, or unnecessary sources of exposure rather than relying on excessive shielding or unnecessary purchases.
Our approach is guided by the ALARA principle: As Low As Reasonably Achievable. We focus on reducing exposure in a meaningful way through careful testing, source identification, and corrective action. When appropriate, we work directly with electricians and other professionals to help ensure that recommendations are practical and properly implemented.
